About Regional Chemical Laboratory, Central Ground Water Board, NR
Since fresh river water is depleting at a rapid pace the rising demand for water is being met by ground water. Under the ministry of water resources, a body named Central Ground water board has been formed to effectively manage the ground water sources. Central Ground Water Board’s prime responsibility is to ensure monitoring and implementation of national policies for scientific and sustainable development of the nation’s ground water resources. Ground water located below the surface of earth is bound to contain various minerals and salts which need to be separated from water before use. For testing the content of salt and minerals in ground water, a testing lab has been set up by the board. This lab is situated in Lucknow, UP equipped with modern state of the art technologies. The ground water is subjected to tests to measure the amount of salts like fluoride, chloride, sodium and potassium present in it.
