    About VERTOX Laboratory, Defence R & D Establishment (DRDE)

    Defence Research and Development Organization came into being in the year 1963, when Jiwaji Industrial Research Laboratory was taken over by Government of India. VERTOX Laboratory, which came into being in the year 2006, is a part of DRDE that performs tests on hazardous chemicals, biological agent etc. They deal with numerous fields that include synthetic and analytical chemistry, protective devices, process technology development, pharmacology and toxicology and much more. Chemical tests like qualitative analysis are performed on a wide range of warfare chemicals like soils, water, organic liquids, polymer, wipe and much more. VERTOX lab is, so far, the only OPCW designated laboratory in India. They have achieved numerous noteworthy achievements like developing bio-digesters of high altitude areas, temperature controlled bio-digesters, indigenous single tube ion mobility spectrometry based handheld chemical detector, and much more.
