About Regional Laboratory, Gujarat Pollution Control Board, Surat

The Gujarat Pollution Control Board, now widely recognized as GPCB, was formed following the regulations of the Water Act of 1974 by the Government of Gujarat on 15 October 1974. The GPCB is continuing its environmental initiatives with enhanced instruments for preventing and controlling pollution. The Board is dealing with various critical environmental issues by its current Regional Office, which is based in Ahmedabad City, Vatva, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, Anand, Bharuch, Surat, Vapi, Sarigam, Navsari, Jetpur, Ankleshwar, Surendranagar, Sabarkantha, Palanpur, Morbi, and Rajkot. Under the government's Swarnim Gujarat programs, emphasis will be placed on the efficiency of economic infrastructure to respond to environmental pollution problems. Whereas the board has continued to play fundamental legislative tasks, it has been organizing several outreach programs on local problems such as municipal solid waste, organic waste, cosmetic problems, in addition to water, air and soil emissions from different manufacturing complexes from moment to moment. Efforts are being produced to reduce and deter pollution and to promote sustainable development to manage pollution. It seeks to develop all-round environmental protection capacities through efficient compliance and implementation of environmental management best practices, which will maintain the state on track of sustainable development, by prevents and controls pollution. Pollution control board (GPCB) The board's mission has over the years increased several-folds, requiring an ever-growing requirement for expertise to deal with complicated legislation and meet the challenges of stringent quality norms that are anticipated of them.
