    About National Test House, Kolkata

    NTH Uniqueness–NTH provides its services to the country through six regional branches in Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Ghaziabad, Jaipur and Guwahati. In all these branches, testing and assessment equipment are accessible under one roof for finished products / raw materials from all branches of engineering fields. The National Test House [NTH], formerly known as the Government Test House, was established in 1912 by the then Calcutta Railway Board to satisfy Indian Railways ' demands through import replacement. During 1916-1918, the Indian Industrial Commission recommended an Indian Stores Department, and the same was formed that absorbed NTH for long-term testing of the general stores required by government departments including the Department of Defence.
