About Material Testing Department (MTD), Machine Tool Prototype Factory

Machine Tool Prototype Factory is a part of the Indian Ordnance Factories and was established by the Late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on 13th Jan 1953. Located at Ambernath, Maharashtra, Machine Tool Prototype Factory is spread over an area of 38 Acres. They design, develop, and manufacture a wide range of products like 81mm bomb body, Boat Tail of 155mm, FUZE FB40, KAVACH MOD–II, Transmission Gear Unit, and Dhanush. The Machine Testing Department (MTD) of Machine Tool Prototype Factory offers numerous kind of mechanical and chemical testing like Rockwell hardness testing, Vickers hardness tester, Brinell hardness tester, Tensile testing, and DR-spectrometer, on a wide variety of metals like ferrous alloy, stainless steel, copper base alloy, aluminum base alloy, and many other ferrous/non-ferrous materials. It has received accreditation from NABL .
