    University of Calcutta is considered one of the finest universities in the country and institutes operating under it subsequently is deemed prestigious, one of them is namely, Institute of Jute Technology. Study around Jute and relevant technologies are undertaken here and for better research on the topic, a testing facility has also been arranged in its campus. This facility is headed by the department of Jute and fibre technology and equipped with latest technological instruments to undertake mechanical testing of geotextile products. Therefore this testing facility is commonly referred to as the Geotextile Laboratory. Calcutta University is one of the oldest universities in the country and has been able to stand the test of time because of the quality of educational, research and related services provide and this testing laboratory is part of its system and hence has inculcated all its attributes.
