    About Chemical Laboratory, Small Arms Factory

    Small Arms Factory (SAF) Kanpur is a premier weapons production unit of the Ministry of Defence under the control of Director General Ordnance Factories Kolkata. SAF was built in the year 1942 as a part of the strategic plan to have a shadow of Rifle Factory Ishapore at Kanpur as a sequel to threat on the eastern border during World war-II. The factory was then named as Transplantation Project-1. They aim to have production of state of the art battle field equipment. They have equipped the armed forces with modern Defense and battle field equipment’s and continuously modernizes our production facilities. They are equipped ourselves with technologies through acquisition, synergy and in house R&D. To continuously improve quality. Improve operational efficiency and communication by extensive use of information technology and achieving highest level of customer satisfaction.
