About Bureau of Indian Standards (Eastern Regional Office Laboratory)

Bureau of Indian Standards is an autonomous body with the sole purpose of establishing unified standardization throughout India. Standardization helps to establish a guidelines for quality that all manufacturing concerns must adhere to. BIS as part of their initiative to inculcate standardization in the industry has set up regional office Laboratory. Their Eastern regional laboratory is situated in the prime location of Kolkata West Bengal. It conducts chemical, mechanical and electrical testing over numerous subjects. Few of them include textiles, metals, building materials, plaster, rubber, leather, cables, conducting materials and other accessories. Established in the year 1987, it has come a long way in improving the quality of materials across different sectors in India. Their testing laboratories has contributed significantly to achieve their goals.
