About Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute

Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute has been into existence for more than 50 years. The purpose of the institute is to boost the development of mechanical engineering sector of the country. Technologies, goods and services associated with the mechanical engineering industry occupy a large segment of the imports. CMERI is undertaking an initiative in which it aims to cut down the cost of imports by getting hold of the technology in a better way. Conducting calibration is a service that can help to improve the mechanical engineering services in the country, therefore the institute has itself established a calibration laboratory facility. The calibration facility is located in the city of Durgapur in West Bengal where thermal and mechanical calibration processes are undertaken. Dimension, pressure, vacuum, mass, volume and density are calibrated through mechanical calibration instruments. Temperatures are calibrated through thermal calibration instruments. Since its inception it has been providing superior standard of services. This can be attributed to its technological advancements and committed workforce.
