About Central Laboratory of Legal Metrology (CLLM)

The Central Laboratory of Legal Metrology at Ernakulam, Kerala, was first started in the year 1992. The introduction of metric systems of weights and measurements in Kerala in the year 1958, led to the development of CLLM in Ernakulam, which works under the revenue department of Kerala. The Central Laboratory of Legal Metrology performs many mechanical calibration tests on products related to weights, length measurements, weighing instruments (Mechanical and Electronics), Automatic Rail Weighbridges, fuel dispensers for motor vehicles, LPG dispenser for motor vehicles, taxi meters, vehicle tanks, storage tanks, and flow meters; thus, ensuring their metrological accuracy. The verification and re-verification of these products at regular intervals ranging from 1 year to 5 years helps the consumers in getting the exact quantity of the products for which they have paid money.
